OHP Fund Raiser

Revenue generated from the sale of “What’s Cookin’ With METS” goes into our Special Needs Fund, and is used to assist clients to pay for outstanding OHP premiums or purchase birth certificates.

The Oregon Health Plan requires clients to pay a monthly premium ranging from $6-$20.  The amount due on the premium is determined by the client’s average income for three months at the time that they apply.  The client is covered by the Oregon Health Plan for six months and needs to reapply during the sixth month to continue coverage.

Clients are not able to continue coverage on the Oregon Health Plan until all of the premiums have been paid in full.  Payment for outstanding premiums is not always possible for clients who may have lost their jobs or experience financial burdens during their six months of coverage.  In fact, recent reports show that only 69% of clients on the Oregon Health Plan are able to pay their monthly premiums in full during a three-month evaluation.

All persons eligible for assistance from this fund are below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level.  The fund helps clients maintain continuous health insurance and access to medical and dental care and prescription drugs.  Our goal is to identify persons at risk of losing their Oregon Health Plan coverage because of past due premiums, and pay the premiums in a timely manner so their health insurance coverage will not lapse.
