The
The Oregon Health Fund Board, comprised of seven citizens, was chartered under the Healthy Oregon Act (SB 329) during the 2007 Legislative session to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure affordable quality health care for every Oregonian. Board members were appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate to four-year terms. They have experience, knowledge and expertise in the areas of consumer advocacy, management, finance, labor and health care. They represent the geographic and ethnic diversity of the state. The plan was finalized and presented to the Governor and Oregon Legislative Assembly in November 2008 for consideration during the Legislative session beginning January 12,2009.
Health Reform and Legislative Resource is a direct web link to the State of Oregon Oregon Health Policy and Research (OHPR) division who have assembled over 40 documents as a resource for discussions on health care reform. Many of the resources came out of the work of the Oregon Health Fund Board and its committees, completed November 2008. The resources are updated monthly and current through March 2009.
The State of Oregon has a Citizen Legislature consisting of the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms, and the House of Representatives, which has 60 members elected for two-year terms. The assembly convenes every two years in regular session on the second Monday in January during odd-numbered years, a date set by statute. Oregon Constitution does not specify a limitation on session length, however most sessions last approximately six months. During the interim, legislators serve on interim committees and task forces that study issues likely to be faced during the next legislative session. Oregon’s representative form of government is governed by rules, laws, and procedures. Although the process is long, complex and dominated by committees, all laws begin as someone’s idea Learn more!
